What's This Map? And how do I get on it?
Rod Gatherings. You know them by reputation. Those secretive enclaves where the elect gather in the dark of night, behind the barricades, to pass arcane secrets amongst only themselves, and portioning out, from one cork-stoppered amber bottle, the angel’s tears with which they varnish their impeccable rods. No, really, that’s not the way it goes. These gatherings are for the experts, but it’s where they share their vast knowledge with the folks who are new to bamboo, or who want to explore another of the ten thousand paths bamboo offers. These gatherings are inclusive, not exclusive. The leadership and active membership of each gathering wants you to attend. If you’re new to bamboo, seek out these gatherings. Go. Meet. Learn. If you’re old to bamboo, you should go, too. Go to share. To educate. To invite new anglers to appreciate bamboo rods. Where are these gatherings held? Around the world. Click the pins. Send an email. Get yourself invited.
If you coordinate a gathering, please email us your information so we can put you on the map!

The Colorado Rodmakers Reunion is an annual gathering of people who make or simply appreciate flyrods made from “the lovely reed.”
We meet on the western slope of Colorado, near Marble CO, at Chair Mountain Ranch, usually on the third weekend in July, for 2-1/2 days of rodmaking presentations, casting and socializing.
In recent years we have had attendees from 20+ states. Space limitations at the ranch currently limit our attendance to around 80 people.
Chair Mountain Ranch is within 30 minutes or so of several renowned flyfishing rivers: The Frying Pan, Roaring Fork, Colorado and Gunnison, as well as the Crystal right across the road. Depending on the year, we can see fantastic dry fly fishing. Spouses and accompanying friends appreciate our proximity to Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, and the wine area around Paonia.

Insiders, outsiders, new to bamboo: Southern Rodmakers is an annual gathering of bamboo fly rod makers. Over 300 craftsmen from 39 states have gathered on the White river near Cotter Arkansas since 1998. This is a low key, family friendly event with demonstrations for the beginner as well as advanced rodmaking topics. Each year is a little different but we try to have casting demonstrations by expert casting instructors, demonstrations of equipment and or techniques, making various hardware components and some sort of rod competition or evaluation of rod tapers. When the sun goes down we usually have some live music by some talented rodmakers. Held right on the storied banks of the White River where monster trout lurk.
